Lead Up to Americana Manhasset’s 12th-Annual Concours d’Elegance
October 8, 2016
A flurry of exciting and noteworthy events took place in the lead up to another Americana Concours d'Elegance--celebrating "Gamechangers" this year as Americana Manhasset marks its 60th anniversary. Saint-Louis Crystal at Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Ermenegildo Zegna, Tesla and Hugo Boss all joined in to play host to the style- and automotive-centric audience of clients that turned out to partake in the fabulous festivities.
Hermès hosted the official kick-off Concours d'Elegance soiree on Thursday, with guests receiving a firsthand look at the exquisite, and one-of-a-kind, Saint-Louis Crystal trophy that was created to celebrate Americana Manhasset's diamond anniversary. Dr. Howard Krimko, former National Director of the Rolls-Royce Owners Club, and chief Concours judge, was in attendance as well as esteemed car collector Jim Glickenhaus.
From there, things hit full throttle with a flurry of activities for our center's many VIP clients. Following a cocktail party at Giorgio Armani to toast the designer's leather goods and ready-to-wear collaboration with Bugatti, it was off to Hendrick's in Roslyn for the annual Concours d'Elegance dinner. There, Americana Manhasset boutique directors and their invited guests were able to mingle and network with the region's most influential automotive dealers, car collectors and get an exclusive premier look at the all-new 2017 Porsche Panamera Turbo.
Speeding into Saturday, four lucky couples were invited by Zegna to partake in a unique mystery ride-and-drive event to lunch in Cold Spring Harbor. Co-hosted by Gold Coast Maserati, guests drove the latest Ghibli and Quattroporte editions to and from lunch, basking in that unparalleled engine growl on a beautiful fall day. They also were able to shop the very limited Zegna x Maserati clothing and leather goods collections, brought in especially for the occasion.
Over at the Ritz-Carlton Residences, North Hills, the electric car-minded joined Tesla for an afternoon of sampling the latest generation Model S sedan and Model X SUVs with test drives and personal walkthroughs. Each garage at the luxury residential community features dedicated Tesla charging units--making it a perfect host for the occasion. Tesla has just opened the doors to a gleaming glass box of a showroom, located adjacent to Coach and Cipollini on the south side of Americana Manhasset.
To cap off a fun-filled day, and despite the rain, Porsche enthusiasts turned out in droves to sample German fare inspired by the iconic automaker's first-ever Biergarten at Americana Manhasset. The commanding Panamera also was on hand for a second revealing as guests were welcomed at Hugo Boss and partook in the tunes spun by a live deejay.
