March is Women's History Month which commemorates and encourages the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in American history. Americana Manhasset is proud to be home to so many influential female fashion designers, brand owners and powerhouses.
Over the past few weeks, we've been lucky enough to sit down with some of our very own. Read on to learn more about Louis Vuitton's incredibly talented in-house artisan, Melissa.
Jackie Corpuz | Tiffany & Co. Boutique Director
Raised on Long Island, Mom of 4 (3 girls, 1 boy) from ages 17 through 4. This year everyone graduates! Amanda (17) will be heading off to college, Charles (14) graduates from Middle School, Amelia (5) graduates Kindergarten and Alexandra (4) graduates from Pre-School. I’ve been at Americana since 2015 and even met my husband, Alex, who also still works at the center. I love spending time with my family outdoors enjoying all 4 seasons. Whether it's apple picking in the Fall, beach days in the Summer or hanging by the firepit on a cool evening. I went to school for Psychology, and started my retail career in cosmetics. It allowed me to connect with clients in a one-to-one setting and truly develop long lasting relationships.
Q: Growing up, what was your dream job?
A: I have always loved learning about and getting to know people. I went to school for Psychology, but shortly after realized how much I enjoyed working in the fashion industry which has allowed me to build my career.
Q: What is your favorite styling tip/fashion hack?
A: Invest in timeless Ready to Wear pieces and have fun with accessories that add texture and dimension to an understated outfit.
Q: If you could have lunch with one fashion icon…who would it be and why?
A: Phoebe Philo! Too many reasons to list, but I have always been fascinated and inspired by women that choose both career and motherhood. Her collections are works of art. They have a beautiful simplistic feminine feeling with an empowering rocker twist. For me she was one of the first to birth what we now refer to as “quiet luxury” without logos, but it’s one of those “if you know, you know.”
Q: What is the best part about your position/working for Tiffany & Co.?
A: As a born and raised New Yorker, I connect with the fact that Tiffany & Co was founded in NY. More importantly, knowing that the compan's' commitment to having a positive impact within communities align with my core values. Tiffany and Co. is the epitome of women’s empowerment. As many as 94% of artisans are women! And who can forget our incredibly talented designers Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso. To be able to share those stories with our clients who are allowing us to be a part of a memorable moment in their lives is truly a privilege. I love that I get to connect with clients during a very special and memorable time in their life. Whether it is choosing an engagement ring for an upcoming proposal, a special birthday or promotion, the list goes on.
Q: Style trends to look out for this Spring?
A: Lots of layered pieces, mixed metals and pops of colors through gemstones.
